Summer Fun

I realize that it has been awhile since I last updated our blog. We have been busy having an AWESOME summer. After believing that summer would NEVER come (still 45 degrees in June!!!) we have had awesome weather and LOTS of fun. This has been one of the best summers we have had as a family - even with Phil working soooo hard on the house in addition to his regular job (what a man!). Anyway, I love summer, so we usually have lots of fun, but with 4 kids, I get to enjoy summer through their eyes...yet one more reason I love being a mom! Here are some pictures of what we have been up to:

Happy Birthday Kathryn!

Last Sunday we celebrated Kathryn's 5th birthday with a Princess Party. All of our friends were soooooo supportive and dressed up like royalty to make her day extra special. We had such a FUN time and Kathryn was so gracious and royal! We are so incredibly blessed to be parents to this beautiful Ghanaian Princess!

Marching to the Beat of Their Own Drum!

Tonight as I was baking Kathryn's birthday cakes (all we have heard about for over a week!!!) I glanced up and looked out the window. Here is what I saw parading around in my backyard, marching (literally) to the beat of their own drum:

I am soooo glad I had my camera nearby because it is not everyday that you get to see Minnie Mouse, Snow White and a Tutu-Wearin', Pink Hatted, Sword-Wielding Cowboy!

Camping on Wednesday?

We went camping this week on Wednesday. Some of you might think that Wednesday is a strange day to go, but I think it is the perfect day to go. I like to go camping on Wednesday for a few reasons:
  1. We can actually get a good campsite
  2. We only go for 1 night which makes packing and unpacking waaaay easier
  3. The week goes quick because we have sooo much fun right in the middle of the work week
  4. Phil only has two days left to work when he gets back from camping
  5. We stay close to home and save money on gasoline

I took 72 pictures in just 16 hours, so I am picking the best ones to share:

Picture Update

Here are some pictures from the 4th of July. This year we went to the Bellingham Firework Show. The kids were in their pajamas so that when we got home, they could be put right to bed (they all fell asleep in the car on the way home, so it was a good thing they were already jammied up) The Lohrer kids were definitely the pre-show entertainment for all the people around us! They found a patch of grass that looked like a giant nest so they decided to pretend that they were chickens and roosters...very entertaining!
